Joyful learning for your child.

A flexible schedule that honors your family's time.

A hybrid Christian academy

for K-5th grade

with 1-day through 5-day options

Have you been frustrated by an education program where:

  • Your child feels burned out rather than inspired to learn?

  • Outdoor learning and time for play is limited?

  • Tests and grades seem more important than literature, creative arts, and hands-on learning?

As a parent, are you:

  • Interested in homeschooling, but overwhelmed by the thought of doing it all on your own?

  • Currently homeschooling, but seeking more balance and a like-minded support system?

  • Longing to provide an unhurried childhood and collaborative learning for your family?

At Zoe Learning House, we are right there with you. Our Christian, hybrid academy and homeschool enrichment programs offer hybrid homeschooling and creative learning to families living in Algiers (New Orleans), Gretna, Belle Chasse, Metairie, and other parts of the Greater New Orleans area.

Enriching the whole child,

A LOVING, CHRISTIAN ATMOSPHERE

TIME OUTSIDE

Through our private, Christian homeschool hybrid’s creative learning program in New Orleans, we believe in bringing learning to life by sharing rich literature and integrating visual arts, theater, music, and movement.

Your child will build confidence and joy as their learning is designed to their individual mastery level in reading, math, and writing, creating a personalized hybrid homeschooling experience for families living in Greater New Orleans, including Algiers, Metairie, Gretna, Belle Chasse, and Harvey, and surrounding areas.

Our tailored small groups, daily class meetings and social-emotional learning build teamwork and kindness for community learning in New Orleans.

We provide welcoming personal evaluations for all of our academic students (2-day through 5-day), which allows us to tailor our small group instruction. For Hybrid Academy students enrolled in 2-day or 3-day programs, Weekly Learning Plans are shared--making your home learning days clear, meaningful, and easy-to-follow. Our Community Learning days include tailored small group instruction, creative projects, and hands-on learning for kids, making us a leading private microschool in New Orleans, Gretna, Belle Chasse, and Metairie.

As a Christian hybrid school, we provide a faith-based education that fosters integrity, empathy, and courage. We believe every person is born with inherent worth given by God, and seek to model and point children to these values within our unique setting.

We understand how beneficial time outdoors is for human well-being, in all types of weather, whenever possible. Every day we will aim for 1-2 hours of time outside for learning, meals, and free play as part of our outdoor learning program in New Orleans.

Pillars of our K-5th Academy

partnering with families.
A pattern of
putting children first

At Zoe Learning House, we have a demonstrated history of serving children and families. Our founder and director, Emily Barnitz, has worked as a certified elementary and early childhood educator for 16 years in public, international, and museum roles.

She has directly taught over 680 children in the classroom, in addition to mentoring and training other teachers. Mrs. Barnitz has developed responsive practices that build community and connection with her students. She considers it a true honor to partner with families to help each child thrive as who they were created by God to be through hybrid homeschooling and homeschool enrichment activities for families in the greater New Orleans area.

Bringing together the best of homeschool and private education

At Zoe Learning House, we know you want your child to be prepared for their future, but not at the expense of their childhood. A small, supportive learning environment that provides personal attention has the power to help your child shine in their strengths, receive support at their own pace, pursue meaningful projects, and develop as a lifelong learner–with time and space for childhood wonder. Traditional schooling options may not always be the best fit for each family or child, causing feelings of burnout or just trying to get a good grade, which is where our hybrid learning and microschool programs like ours can offer an alternative. We believe every child has an innate desire to learn, and that education should inspire and nurture their development.

We understand the challenge of navigating the educational landscape for your child, and want you to know you are not alone. This is why we designed a learning option that is hands-on, creative, and inspiring, based on a philosophy that honors the personhood and brilliance of each child, while partnering with families. Welcome to the balance between the freedom of homeschool and the community and support of a private elementary school, through our hybrid learning program and community learning space in New Orleans.

Nurturing Faith and Christ-Like Character

Learning that comes alive with the light of Christ

Woven throughout our programs is a Charlotte Mason understanding that all of life can honor Christ: "We allow no separation to grow up between the intellectual and spiritual life of children." At Zoe, this means every day includes simple prayers, character formation rooted in our Scripture focus, and an education that celebrates what the Word of God teaches is good, beautiful, and true. Science reveals God's creativity. History shows His faithfulness. Literature explores the human heart. All of it points toward Him. You remain your child's primary spiritual shepherd; we create an environment where all of life—academics included—can honor Christ and display His glory.
